Dear Members and Friends,
This comes to you as part of our ongoing communication regarding our efforts pertinent to the Maryland Clean Indoor Air Act (CIAA) and its effect on our Club.
As most of you are aware, our temporary exemption to the CIAA expires on January 31, 2011. The Havana Club has retained lobbyists in Annapolis and in Baltimore to protect the rights of our members and sanctity of our venue. Although there are no guarantees, we are hopeful for a positive outcome in both Annapolis and in Baltimore for our securing a permanent exemption to the CIAA.
Regrettably, smoking will no longer be permitted by law at the Havana Club effective February 1, 2011. Members should be secure in knowing that we shall continue to preserve our private humidor quality control in hopes of a positive outcome to the pending legislation we are introducing.
Currently, worst case scenario for a successful outcome would be June 2011.
We will be in communication with you over the coming weeks regarding our progress. In the meantime, please continue to visit our club and enjoy.
As always, my sincere thanks for your business and, your continued support.
Steve de Castro
